Our desire to connect to others is as deep as our desire for Self knowledge. Our relationship with ourselves is mirrored in our relationship with others as it is through others that we ultimately face ourselves.
Vedic relationship analysis is ancient and very accurate. Even though we have evolved culturally, with equality between the sexes in the workplace, etc., males and females (or their archetypes for gay couples)still function according to a deep bio programming in relationships. The female is generally happiest when they receive what they want - and male happier when what they offer is well received. The sexual metaphor is appropriate. The female wants to be filled with what feels good and makes her feel valued and cherished. The man wants what he offers to be accepted, well received and respected.

Or you could say, Women do good when they feel good and Men feel good when they do good. Astrologically, much of this dynamic comes from the Moon.
Why the Moon?

The Moon is a main planet used in relationship analysis, because it is the main Social planet. It is the Moon that is mainly seeking connection through relationships. The Moon is the part of our psyche that is seeking inner Peace and seeking to become whole through it. Relationships can offer the support that will allow inner peace to enter our lives and allow our higher human capacities to unfold. A main feature of Vedic Compatibility Astrology is the "Kuta" system. The Kutas are a series of criteria that measure the Moon's of each member of the couple. See the Right panel for Kuta parameters

Astrology 2005

Other planets are also important when considering compatibility of a couple. Individual Planets in each person's chart are very important. For example, if one or both has a combust Venus (too close to the Sun) they will usually have difficulties feeling cherished and respected and become angry about it, thus disrespecting the other and in the process bringing the feared disrespect upon themselves. Combust Mercury will make the person insecure about asking for what they want in a healthy way. Of course these things will present problems in relationships. When combined with other planetary configurations (see the link below) the results are very accurate.
